Comments:
This story is continued from Invasion #1 and continues in Invasion #3.
A crowd scene is depicted at the super-hero summit. Many figures are depicted with minimal detail which obscures their identification. Two Marvel characters, Spider-Man and Phoenix, can be identified. Swamp Thing is clearly shown in the crowd, but his appearance is inaccurate since he was not present in this time period during Invasion.
Synopsis:
A temporary ceasefire is called between Earth and the invading alien alliance. This gives the heroes of Earth time to meet with their leadership and to plan a counterstrike. Superman takes command of a group of heroes sent to Australia to liberate the occupied continent. Aquaman returns to the Arctic Circle where he leads the Sea Devils and Doom Patrol in forcing the Gil'Dishpan into retreat.
In Australia, the super-powered Daxamites confront the Man of Steel, giving up their status as observers. However, they suddenly take ill in mid-fight due to an unidentified ailment. The Khunds try to send reinforcements while Superman is occupied, but they are met by the Suicide Squad led by Nemesis. Elsewhere, the Flash and Manhunter return to Cuba where the Durlans have taken over. Wally's father sacrifices his own life to destroy the alien compound. In Moscow, the New Guardians and the Bronze Tiger battle the Okaarans.
Superman is able to make peace with the Daxamites once he leads them into space and away from the planet. One of them remains behind to send a message to his people. He dies in the process. Superman, the Daxamites, Green Lantern, Firestorm, Guy Gardner and Martian Manhunter then take the fight into space against the alien fleet. They take refuge on the moon protected by a shield created by Green Lantern.
Meanwhile, in the Starlag where alien prisoners have been captured, Vril Dox organizes a revolt. The Omega Men and other meta-humans are freed from captivity.
Back in Earth orbit, the Daxamite fleet arrives. They side with Earth which leads to a space battle. Deadman boards the alien command ship and takes possession of the Dominator and Khund leaders. He is able to kill them. With the loss of leadership, the alien armada is forced to evacuate their forces on Earth and retreat.
Following the battle, Captain Atom addresses the United Nations, and the world celebrates their victory.
