Comments:
The Sphere of Influence created by the Spear of Destiny and the Holy Grail is in this story and would prevent super-heroes from attacking Axis occupied territory directly throughout the duration of the war.
This story which takes place on December 8, 1941 is continued in part from All-Star Squadron #3.
Synopsis:
Following their adventures in San Francisco, the members of the newly formed All-Star Squadron fly to Pearl Harbor to investigate the damage. Danette Reilly learns that her brother Rod was severely injured and remains in a coma.
Despite orders to remain and protect the home front, the All-Star Squadron vows to carry the war to Japan immediately. They leave behind most of their ground forces and Starman to protect Pearl, then set out in search of the Japanese fleet.
A fearsome Japanese leader known as the Dragon King has created a mystical machine powered by the Holy Grail and Spear of Destiny which creates a Sphere of Influence.
When the All-Star Squadron enters the Sphere, the magic influenced members including Dr. Fate, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern turn on their friends and convert to the Japanese side. Hawkman manages to lure the affected members outside the Sphere before they kill him and the few heroes who remain unaffected. As a result of the Sphere, their plans to attack Japan are stalled for the time being.
