History:
Young Dick Grayson and his parents John and Mary were the three members of the Flying Graysons, trapeze artists who performed with the Haly Circus. After Haly refused to pay protection money to gangster "Boss" Zucco, Zucco had the Graysons’ trapeze ropes weakened with acid. When the circus gave its next performance in a town outside Gotham City, a weakened trapeze rope broke while the Flying Graysons were performing their act, and John and Mary Grayson plunged to their death. Dick and the entire audience witnessed this "accident" in horror. Also present in the audience was Bruce Wayne, who was secretly the crimefighting Batman.

Soon afterward, Dick overheard Zucco’s men warning Haly that if he did not pay them protection money, more such "accidents" would occur. Realizing that his parents had been murdered, Grayson was about to tell the police when the Batman stopped him, warning him that Zucco controlled the entire town. The Batman said he wanted to bring Zucco to justice, and Grayson asked if he could help. Recognizing that he and Grayson both sought to avenge the murders of their parents, the Batman decided to make Grayson his partner on the Zucco case. He entrusted Grayson with the secret of his true identity, and gave him an intense physical training program over the following weeks. The Batman presented Grayson with a costume, and the boy took the name of Robin.

Together the Batman and Robin battled Zucco and his men and obtained the evidence necessary to convict Zucco of murder. Loving adventure, Grayson decided to continue as the Batman’s partner, and they fought crime together for many years. The two were both members of the wartime All-Star Squadron.

After Wayne went into semiretirement as the Batman, the adult Robin joined the Justice Society of America. Grayson was a partner in the legal firm of Cranston, Grayson, & Wayne, as was Wayne's daughter Helena, who as the Huntress was often Robin’s ally. Grayson also served as a U.S. ambassador.

Robin died heroically during the so-called crisis on infinite earths when he was killed by the Anti-Monitor’s shadow demons as he tried to protect the injured Huntress.

Powers:
Robin had no super-powers but was a brilliant athlete and acrobat and a master of all forms of physical combat. Thanks to the Batman’s training, Robin had superb reasoning and deductive abilities.

Robin carried weaponry in a utility belt similar to Batman’s.
