History:
Johnny Chambers’ guardian, the great scientist Professor Gill, working from a clue he found on a piece of papyrus from the tomb of a king named Amen, developed a secret formula for giving a person the power to move at superhuman speed. Knowing that he himself did not have long to live, Gill told Chambers the formula and instructed him to use it in the cause of justice. Chambers fulfilled Gill’s wish by becoming the costumed crimefighter Johnny Quick. As Johnny Chambers, he worked as a newsreel photographer for Sees All/Tells All News, and he entrusted his friend and assistant, Tubby Watts, with the knowledge of his dual identity. As Johnny Quick, he became a member of the wartime All-Star Squadron, and he fell in love with his fellow Squadron member Liberty Belle. The two were married in the spring of 1942 in their secret identities of Johnny Chambers and Libby Lawrence.

Johnny Quick’s present whereabouts and activities, if any, have yet to be revealed.

Powers:
When he speaks the formula "3X2(9YZ)4A," Johnny Quick gains the power to move at a superhuman speed. Saying the formula is not the only factor in giving Johnny Quick his super-powers, but those other factors involved have yet to be revealed. Despite previously published accounts, it is also not yet known how many other people, if any, could gain such powers by speaking the formula. Johnny Quick speaks another formula, "Z25Y(2AB)6," when he wants to "turn off" his super-speed power.

The limits of Johnny Quick’s super-speed have not yet been revealed, but it has been said to rival that of the original Flash. Like both Flashes, Johnny Quick possesses an aura of unknown energy that protects him from friction heat and the other adverse effects of motion at super-speed. He can also vibrate his atoms at such high speeds that they can slip past the atoms of solid objects, enabling him to pass through such objects without damaging them.

Unlike the two Flashes, Johnny Quick also has an anti-gravity power that enables him to fly. However, he must be running at super-speed in order to launch into flight; he cannot simply levitate himself while he is standing still. Moreover, he must divert some of his super-speed energy into anti-gravity energy when flying. Hence, he cannot fly as fast as he can run.
