Comments:
Spectre’s previous battle with Kulak in the third story of All-Star Comics #2 and his encounter with the Ring of Life in All-Star Comics #5 are briefly recapped in this story.
This is a Justice Society of America story.
This story, which takes place in February, 1942, is continued from All-Star Squadron #27.
This issue contains a 2-page pin-up of Infinity, Inc., including La Garro, a woman in a cat-costume. La Garro never appeared with Infinity, Inc., but may have been a precursor to the second Wildcat.
Synopsis:
Kulak begins emerging from a portal in the sky. The Justice Society moves to oppose him, but are easily defeated, until Sargon the Sorcerer uses his Ruby of Life to close the portal.
Under the control of Kulak, Spectre returns to Earth, while his master casts a spell which causes men to hate one another. The JSA battles Spectre, while Sargon rescues Dr. Fate from limbo. Kulak defeats Fate, and takes his helmet. When he dons the helmet, though his third eye is unable to penetrate the helmet of Nabu. When he attempts to use it both he and the helm are hurled into limbo, lifting his spell and control of the Spectre.
