Synopsis:
Valda and Malagigi are the prisoners of the mage Baledor. The sorcerer has vowed not to harm Valda, but he has Malagigi tortured. Valda makes a bargain with Baledor which allows her to save Malagigi's life. In doing so, he causes a tidal wave to strike and destroy Baledor's castle.
After the tides recede, Baledor forces Valda to unhold her end of the deal by putting on an enchanted suit of armor which will rob her of her mind and cause her to become the sorcerer's bodyguard. Malagigi is the sent to the dungeon of Lord Hessa, where he will eventually be rescued by Arak. The Son of Thunder will go on to free Valda from the armor and slay Baledor.
After concluding her remembering of the past, Valda regrets that she will never see Arak again. Malagigi comforts her and advises her that the future may bring her together with the Son of Thunder again someday.
