This story continues in the second story of Arak/Son of Thunder #28.
Synopsis:
Arak and Malagigi make their way back to the Frankland from their quest in White Cathay. They pause to catch some fish for dinner which gives Valda time to reflect on her relationship with Arak. Malagigi speculates that the couple will meet again at some time in the future. He also theorizes that the world may be round which is contrary to popular thought at the time.
Valda then remembers the events that led to her first meeting Arak. She was a young knight in service to Carolus Magnus. At the conclusion of a training session with Olivar, Valda and the other knights see a rider in the distance. The rider is Creston, the Knight All in Scarlet, He reaches Valda and with his dying breath whispers the name of Michael, the archangel of death.
