The Dzyan Inheritance Part One of Four
This story makes a connection between the origin of Neptune Perkins and two literary works: Edgar Allan Poe's, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne.
This story takes place on May 31, 1942.
This story continues in Young All-Stars #17.
Synopsis:
A group of Nazis led by Colonel Streicher emerge from a submarine in the arctic on an artificial island called Leviathan. The Nazis attack a race of albino humanoids living on the island and make their way below ground to the inner sanctum of a human named Arthur Gordon Pym. This man talks to one of the albinos named Kalla who is of the Dzyan race. She transforms into a bird and escapes.
Kalla makes her way to New York and enters the headquarters of the All-Star Squadron. She is looking for and finds Neptune Perkins who is Pym's grandson. She proceeds to tell Neptune and the other Young All-Stars the narrative of A. Gordon Pym.
Pym was a sailor in the 1800s who discovered the race of Dzyan and their power source the Vril. Over the years Pym made several journey's back and forth between the land of the Dzyan and the world of normal men. The power of the Vril kept him young and also was responsible for Neptune's mutation. Over the years his tales were passed on to Edgar Allan Poe and Jules Verne. The authors used some of Pym's life experiences in their stories.
Prior to World War I, Pym worked with the Germans to build Leviathan. Now the Nazis want it back. Kalla requests the aid of Neptune and his friends to help Pym and stop the Nazis from using Leviathan.
