Comments:
This story takes place on May 23, 1942 and continues in part in the first story of Infinity Inc. Annual #2.
This story establishes that in post-Crisis continuity Miss America was the JSA secretary during World War II, filling the role that Wonder Woman held in the Earth-2 universe.
Synopsis:
Mekanique and Per Degaton sneak inside the Perisphere while members of the All-Star Squadron attend a meeting to decide the fate of the Young All-Stars. After a recounting of prior events a vote is called for to determine if the youngsters should be returned to probationary status. Before the voting can take place Arn Munro announces that he is leaving. The others follow him outside, quitting the team.
While the meeting continues inside, the Young All-Stars speak to one another about their future plans. When each has finished their stories, they notice strange purple lights emanating from inside the Perisphere.
The members of the All-Star Squadron have been reduced in size by Mekanique. She places them in a replica of her future Metropolis and tries to kill them. As Fury's visions of the future play out in reality, the All-Stars lose the fight. They are saved when Fury and the other Young All-Stars return. Robotman, having rebuilt Mekanique's robot body, is able to locate her weakest point and exploit it. The evil robot implodes. Believing the threat has passed, the All-Star allow the youngsters to rejoin the group.
Unseen by the All-Stars, Per Degaton has watched the battle from the shadows. He plans to exploit the information given to him by Mekanique concerning time travel to make himself ruler of the world.
