The JSA members are sent to planets within the solar system, but as revealed in All-Star Squadron #50, the arrival of Harbinger in 1942 causes the JSA rockets to be sent into Hyper-Space and thus alternate dimensions. This explains how life exists on each of the planets.

As revealed in All-Star Squadron #50, the Nazis receive their advanced rockets used in this story from the Monitor.
