History:
The original 98-lb. Weakling, Al Pratt one day bought dinner for a vagrant who turned out to be Joe Morgan, the former boxing champ.

Morgan took to Pratt, promising to change the young man from a weakling to a "little Superman" in under one year.

True to his word, Morgan began an intensive training and exercise program for the diminutive Pratt, who quickly grew in both strength and agility.

But Pratt refused the boxing career Morgan had hoped for and instead became the Atom – a crime fighter short in height but tall in power.

By 1948, Pratt found he had gained "atomic" strength due to the delayed results of the Atom’s battle with Cyclotron, involving his exposure to radiation. During his fighting career the Mighty Mite joined other super-heroes and became a charter member of the Justice Society of America. At the request of President Franklin Roosevelt, the Atom and his fellow JSA members, along with many other super-hero adventurers, formed the All-Star Squadron.

After the JSA’s breakup during the 1950s, Al Pratt retired the Atom from full active duty and now only dons his costume on special ocassions or when duty calls.

Powers:
Super-strength, incredible agility, and great boxing skills are the Atom’s main abilities. Even now, decades after his rebirth as a super-hero, his powers have only slightly diminished.
