Comments:
This is Dr. Fate’s final golden age appearance in his full helmet. An explanation of the change was revealed in All-Star Squadron #23.

Honorary members Superman, Batman, and Flash appear briefly at the end of this story. This is Superman and Batman’s first appearance with the JSA, as well as their first appearance together in the same story.

A message at the end of the story announces that Green Lantern is elected to honorary status, becoming the fourth member to do so. This corresponds with the release of his own quarterly title. Dr. Mid-Nite is chosen as his replacement.

This is also the only story in which Green Lantern serves as chairman. Hawkman is elected as the new chairman.

Hourman’s leave of absence is also annouced in a text message. Reasons for this change are not given, but Starman, his co-star from Adventure Comics, is announced as his replacement.

Page 59 is used again as page 1 of the first story of All-Star Comics #8.

Synopsis:
Green Lantern returns from a visit to wartorn Europe and urges his Justice Society teammates to raise money for orphaned children overseas. Each member pledges to earn a hundred thousand. Johnny Thunder volunteers to raise three hundred thousand in an attempt to make up for causing trouble at the last meeting. Together they will bring in a million dollars for charity.

Each member struggles to earn their share of the money. Green Lantern rescues a wealthy man from kidnappers, Spectre uses his occult powers to win earnings in the stock market and at the track, and the Atom stops a gambling ring at Calvin College. Dr. Fate prevents a bank robbery to receive his reward, Hawkman helps a newspaper publisher stop a sabotage ring, Sandman tracks down three wanted felons, and Hourman uncovers buried treasure in Mexico.

The successful JSA members return to their headquarters, but Johnny Thunder is missing. Johnny is hiding, because he was unable to earn his promised share. An accidental call to his Thunderbolt solves the problem, when T-Bolt summons honorary members: Superman, Batman, and the Flash. Each has brought a hundred thousand with him, bringing the total to an even million. The honorary members are thanked and the money in given to refugee children in the wartorn democracies of the world.
