Comments:
Black Canary is awarded permanent membership in the JSA at the end of this story. Her participation on previous cases indicates that she must have been on probationary status prior to this adventure.
This story features the second incarnation of the Injustice Society.
Synopsis:
After the Liberty Train mysteriously disappeared, the FBI contacts the JSA via Black Canary. Black Canary calls an emergency meeting, but when she arrives at headquarters, none of the other members are present. Green Lantern's foe, the Harlequin is found under the meeting table. She explains that the other members were abducted by the new Injustice Society. Before either woman can take action, the Icicle freezes them both and takes them prisoner.
Black Canary and Harlequin are taken to the Injustice Society hide-out, where the JSA members have become mindless automatons. The Wizard intends to do likewise to the new prisoners, but Harlequin is able to hypnotize the JSA into freeing her. The JSA then splits up to hunt down the Injustice Society.
Hawkman attempts to stop the Sportsmaster from stealing Old Ironsides, Wonder Woman and Dr. Mid-Nite tangle with the Fiddler while he tries to steal the Liberty Bell, Green Lantern fails to stop the Icicle from stealing the Washington Monument, and Flash and Atom battle the Huntress for possession of Plymouth Rock.
Each JSA member is again captured and rehypnotized into obeying the Injustice Society. Black Canary and Harlequin once again break the spell, this time permanently by restoring their rightful minds. The JSA then teams up to take down their foes, who are holding a contest to judge which of their thefts is the greatest. After the crooks are defeated Harlequin escapes, and Black Canary is awarded permanent membership in the JSA.
