Comments:
This is a prose story with illustrations.
The story is a retelling of the murder of the Flying Grayson. These events were also shown in flashback on pages 5-6 of Secret Origins #13 and in detail in flashback in Batman #436. The story takes place the week of Halloween. Dick Grayson turned 10 years old the previous week.
Synopsis:
Young Dick Grayson prowls the circus grounds one evening while the show is stopped outside Gotham City. He overhears part of a conversation between circus owner Mr. Haly and a man named Zucco. The following day, Dick and his parents perform their trapeze act. The ropes snap while in motion causing John and Mary Grayson to plummet to their death. Dick is shocked and heartbroken. He then meets Batman.
