Synopsis:
Luthor hires doctors to remove the tumor from the head of Milton Fine. In its place, Lex implants a device which forces the mental wizard to work for him. Brainiac uses his mental power to give Superman several hallucinations in which he kills his own friends. Eventually Superman suspects Brainiac and goes to check on Fine. A battle ensures. It appears that Fine killed himself during the fight.
Weeks later, Brainiac shows up alive and well at LexCorp. He used his abilities to fake his own death. During the time he was thought to be dead, he had Luthor's implant removed. Now that he is free of Lex's control, Brainiac suggests a partnership.
