Synopsis:
The Guardian's fight with Gangbuster ends abruptly when the front of the Gangbuster's uniform is ripped open revealing Superman's costume underneath. Both Guardian and Superman are confused. The Man of Steel did not know that he was masquerading as the vigilante. The Guardian suggests that they return to Cadmus, but Superman flies away.
Elsewhere Lois Lane meets with Jose Delgado. She shares his doubts about the company who used their technology to let Jose walk again. She also tells him that she is not interested in pursuing a relationship with him. Jose storms out. He later visits the lab and is ordered by Luthor to become his bodyguard. Jose refuses, but he soon discovers that the technology in his legs gives Luthor control over his body.
Superman visits Dr. Hamilton and retrieves an experimental breathing apparatus from S.T.A.R. Labs. He also phones Perry White and arranges a leave of absence for Clark Kent. Finally he returns to Smallville to say goodbye to his parents. He plans to leave Earth. The Kents fail to talk him out of it. Superman then heads into space just as the planet experiences a sudden flash of black light.
