Synopsis:
Jim Corrigan is nearly hit by a subway train while investigating the death of Gina Belmont and his own murder. In the subway tunnel he meets a ghost that has been killing subway workers. The Spectre battles the ghost while Jim escapes. The ghost then causes an earthquake. The Spectre is forced to hold several girders in place to prevent the collapse of a large building.

Meanwhile Corrigan returns to his office. He receives a call from Pete Quarral informing him that a criminal he had shot while on the police force, Enrique Armas, was also the missing person, Eric Zendiah, that Gina Belmont had reported missing. Jim remembers that Armas was struck by red lightning after being shot and is now the red mist creature.

After piecing together the rest of the story including Gina's part in his murder, Jim returns to the subway tunnel where he encounters Gina's spirit. He then reunites with the Spectre who has become weak due to prolonged separation from Corrigan. The Spectre then restores Armas's life, so that Corrigan can kill him properly. Gina and Armas then leave the earthly plane.
