Synopsis:
Travis Morgan and Mariah have arrived in the city of Kiro. After fighting some street thugs, the Warlord contacts a swordsmith to make two quality swords with the steel from Mariah's rifle. Mariah then gets a barbarian makeover. The pair are then assaulted and captured by royal guards.
Warlord and Mariah are escorted to the king's chambers. Morgan is startled to learn that his old friend Machiste is the ruler of Kiro. Machiste explains that after parting ways with Morgan in Thera he was attacked by beastmen. He then found a magic axe in a cave which he cannot put down.
When Machiste angrily attacks a serving girl, Warlord defends her. A fight between Morgan and Machiste ensues. The Warlord then severs his friend's hand which holds the axe. Once separated from the weapon, Machiste is freed from its evil influence. He orders it thrown into a volcano, but the guard assigned to the task grabs the hilt and is overcome by its evil.
