Synopsis:
Clark Kent witnesses gangster Slugger Maull murdered in an alley. The attacker runs off, leaving Clark for the police to find. Clark is arrested and convicted of the murder. He is then executed.
Of course Clark is Superman and has fooled medical examiners. He then works to find the real killer. Another man, Elmo Botts, had come forward confessing to the murder of Maull. Superman knows Botts is not the killer, but uses the man to learn that mob boss Big Al Strumm was the real killer.
Superman makes Strumm and his partner believe they are seeing ghosts. Strumm confesses to his involvement in the murder. Superman then arrests him. Clark then returns much to the amazement of Lois Lane, explaining that Superman had taken his place in the electric chair.
