Synopsis:
Superboy unexpectedly loses his powers without explanation. Initially he believes that he was exposed to Red Kryptonite, but the power loss lasts longer than 48 hours. After nearly a month without powers, Smallville worries about their missing hero. With the help of Jonathan Kent, Clark fakes his powers, allowing Superboy to return.
Eventually, the Phantom Zone villains mentally contact Superboy. Professor Vakox admits that they were responsible for the power loss by creating a new form of Kryptonite with properties of both Red and Green K. Superboy is forced to release Vakox from the Phantom Zone to concoct an antidote. Vakox attempts to double-cross the Boy of Steel. Superboy is prepared and uses Green Kryptonite to force Vakox to keep his word. Vakox is returned to the Phantom Zone, and the antidote restores Superboy's powers.
