Clark Kent pretends to be a blackmailer and is sent to prison. Clark is secretly working with the prison warden and the governor in order to learn the location of loot stolen by another prisoner, Larceny Luke Damon.
Clark earns the respect of the other prisoners and soon completes his mission. However, the warden then refuses to release Kent, claiming no knowledge of the plan. Later, the warden approaches Clark and offers to let him escape. The guards try to kill him, but as Superman, Clark survives.
Clark then finds that the warden is an imposter, Blacky Blake. Blake also wants Larceny Luke's loot. He has replaced the warden and tried to eliminate Kent. Superman apprehends Blake, finds the loot, and rescues the real warden. Clark's name is publicly cleared, and he returns to work at the Daily Planet.
