Comments:
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) is killed in this story.
This story continues in Green Lantern #47.
Synopsis:
Dr. Polaris returns with a new plot to eliminate Green Lantern. He kidnaps Pieface and learns where GL stores his power battery. Then Polaris creates an invisible barrier around the battery which prevents the ring from being recharged. Green Lantern comes to rescue Pieface, but his ring runs out of power. To save Kalmaku's life, GL uses the ring's reserve power designed to protect Green Lanterns from mortal danger. Pieface is saved, but without the reserve power of his ring, Green Lantern is killed by Dr. Polaris.
The Guardians learn of Hal's demise and bring his body back to Oa. The other Green Lanterns mourn the loss of a great hero. They recharge his ring to learn the story of his death. After paying homage to Hal, the Green Lanterns return to their own worlds, except Katma Tui who stays behind with Hal's body.
