Jim seeks to clear his grandfather's name and travels to Lost Mesa where Capt. Gordon died. Superboy follows him as Jim learns about his grandfather. He hears several stories each indicating that Gordon was indeed an outlaw, but that his thefts were actually beneficial.
Superboy then discovers more evidence which proves that Capt. Gordon was a secret government agent sent to stop some renegades. Gordon's crimes were part of the secret, but were actually done to stop the outlaws. With the new evidence, Jim's grandfather is honored as an American hero.
