Comments:
A matter transmitter is used again in Action Comics #281 which is based on this story.
Synopsis:
Professor Enders published a book about Krypton. Clark Kent reads the book and learns details about his home planet for the first time. Superman visits Enders who claims to have made up the details. Superman is unconvinced, but he is called away to stop a robbery.
When Superman returns to the professor's lab, he discovers that the professor has been kidnapped. The Man of Steel reads the notes in Enders's journals and discovers that the professor visited Krypton and met Jor-El before it exploded. This was accomplished using a matter transmitter invented by Jor-El.
The crooks have stolen the transmitter and are using it to establish alibis for criminals by transporting them across the country to Coast City. Superman tracks down the crooks, rescues the professor, then throws the matter transmitters into space where they can't be used by criminals again.
