Synopsis:
Rip Carter and the Boy Commandos help Farnby, a circus owner, capture a giant gorilla in Africa. When they return to the U.S. the ape amazes everyone by displaying intelligence including the ability to write. The ape, Big Chan, proclaims himself smarter than humans and begins plotting crimes. The crimes are then executed by a criminal gang.

Rip Carter suspects a ruse and investigates the gorilla's cage. Someone then lets the gorilla loose. Rip and the boys chase the ape around the city until it is recaptured. Rip then confronts Farnby with proof that he faked the ape's writing. Farnby is really the gang leader behind the crimes. Farnby tries to kill Rip, but stumbles within reach of the gorilla. Big Chan then kills Farnby.
