Synopsis:
Arak, Valda, and Satyricus have been captured and locked in a gilded cage awaiting their execution. The dwarf thief Brunello visits their cell and offers to aid them in exchange for Angelica's ring of invisibility. Once free the trio prepare to locate Malagigi when a commotion is heard outside the gates of the city.
Arak and the other see that Haakon has finally arrived with Kallinikos, the keeper of the secret of the Byzantine sea-fire. Arak is forced to join with Haakon to fight off the huns which surround the city in order to protect Kallinikos. Once they reach safety inside the gates, Arak and the others are recaptured.
Arak is forced to fight Haakon is a duel to the death. However, their fight is interrupted by a revolt inside the city gates. The priest Johannes has returned and revealed himself as the rightful king of White Cathay who was exiled by Angelica's father. He engages the sorceress in mystic combat, but when Angelica turns her magic against the citizen of the city, Johannes loses power which was derived from their faith in him.
As a last option to stop Angelica, Johannes constructs a pentagram to travel into hell and revive the Gog army via a bargain with the demon Baphomet. Malagigi and Arak join him on the journey into hell.
