This story takes place eight months after Superman's debut and features the first meeting of Superman and Batman.

Synopsis:
Superman visits Gotham City and attempts to capture Batman, a new costumed vigilante. Batman is prepared for the Man of Steel and utilizes a force field to keep his adversary at bay. Batman then convinces Superman to help him stop the Magpie, a female crook with a murderous love for jewels. After defeating the villain, Superman admits that Gotham City is different than Metropolis. He acknowledges that although he doesn't agree with Batman's methods, he knows that Batman is committed to stopping crime. The two heroes part ways respecting each other, but not as friends.
