Synopsis:
Several Calvin College sophomores go on a picnic. Al Pratt stays behind to study for an exam. When Al learns that he doesn't need to take the test he arrives late to the picnic. Al sees the other students being abducted by strange looking monsters.

Al follows them into an old mine where a mad scientist tells the students that he intends to make them his slaves. With a slave army he intends to declare himself the Emperor of America.

Al becomes the Atom and rescues the kids. The scientist tries to hit Al with a vial of acid. It misses and hits one of the support beams. The Atom drags the last student to safety before the mine collapses. He then takes off his costume and joins the other students.
