Synopsis:
Overnight, doubles of the Justice League heroes appear on Earth, each possessing mightier powers than the original, and devoted to evil rather than good. Unable to overcome their counterparts, and blamed for their crimes despite the defense efforts of lawyer Jean Loring, the League is exiled into space. Only then do they deduce that the evil JLA has been materialized from their own dreams by the imprisoned Dr. Destiny, using his materiopticon weapon.
Legally prevented from returning to Earth as their super-hero selves, the members who have other identities (excluding only Aquaman) return to civilian guise to battle their doubles. Thus, John Jones, Diana Prince, and Bruce Wayne go into action against evil Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, and Batman; Clark Kent, Barry Allen, and Ray Palmer fight the criminal Superman, Flash, and Atom; Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen team up against the superior versions of Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Aquaman. This strategy fails, and the heroes are imprisoned by their counterparts, but they escape by energizing Hal's power ring with their combined wills. Ray then enters the duplicates’ bodies, and robs them of control of bodily movements, allowing the others to defeat them easily.
Aquaman is returned from exile, Dr. Destiny is placed in solitary confinement, and the knowledge of the super-heroes’ true identities is erased using the Amnesium stored in Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.
