This events of this story take place over the course of a year, ending December 13, 1947.
Synopsis:
Joe Starr is an errand boy for Trigger Smith's mob who dreams of more action. He visits a swami who tells him he will receive a sign from the future. One evening, Starr finds a newspaper dated one year in the future. The paper reports his death as Public Enemy No. 1.
Joe, now using the name Lucky, believes he can not die for another year, so he becomes a daredevil. First he confronts and kills Trigger Smith, the mob boss. Then he assumes control of the gang, risking his life with daring robberies.
The crimes bring him in contact with Batman and Robin. Batman tries to stop Starr, but Starr's luck and daredevil escapes prevent his capture. After months of pursuit, Batman finally corners Starr. Lucky shows Batman the newspaper. Batman points out that the newspaper is a phony designed by Trigger Smith as a joke. Lucky realizes he is not leading a charmed life and is captured. Starr is then convicted and given the death penalty. His execution is scheduled for the same day that the phony newspaper claimed he would die.
