This story is continued from Detective Comics #605 and continues in Detective Comics #607.
Synopsis:
Batman battle Preston Payne and Lady Clayface at a charity event. Lady Clayface takes the form of Robin which surprises Batman. He is caught off balance, and Payne knocks him out. The female Clayface has to stop Payne from killing him. She then brings both her partner and Batman to Basil Karlo.
Karlo has Lady Clayface become Looker again in order to hypnotize Batman. Karlo then forces Batman to watch a movie, which combined with the hypnosis, causes him to experience his worst fears. The original Clayface then drugs Lady Clayface and steals a sample of her blood and that of Payne. When Lady Clayface recovers, Karlo is gone. She confesses to Payne that she hypnotized him. Despite her duplicity, Clayface falls in love with her in her clay form.
Meanwhile, the real Looker has come to Gotham to help Batman. She tracks him to the theater which Karlo was using. She finds Batman inside, but his mind has been damaged by the torture Clayface used against him.
