Synopsis:
Troubled, Nightshade takes a walk in the prison yard on the eve before a mission. She meets Father Craemer and tells him her story. As a child, Eve Eden had an ideal youth until her mother revealed that she was actually an exile from another dimension. When she thought it was safe to return home Maureen Eden took her two children Eve and Larry through a portal to the shadow world. However, her enemy the Incubus was still in power. Maureen was critically injured, and Larry kidnapped. Young Eve was able to return to Earth.
Fearing her father would not believe her, Eve made up a story that her mother and brother were simply missing. She and her father grew estranged, while Eve trained herself for an eventual rescue mission. Eve used her new powers to become the super-hero Nightshade and petitioned King Faraday to become an agent of the CBI. When the Suicide Squad was formed, Eve became an early recruit. She met Tom Tresser, Nemesis, and Rick Flag and fell in love with both men. She also met Captain Atom, a super-hero secretly employed by the government and was used to create his false back story.
After Eve confesses her story to the holy man, she returns to her quarters to prepare for the mission in which she will lead the Suicide Squad on a rescue mission to find Larry Eden in the shadow dimension.
