Synopsis:
Adam Strange has fled Ranagar following his accidental attack on Sardath. Outside the city he finds a valley which is full of life nurtured on Rann during the Swamp Thing's visit. In the valley he sees a group of exiles performing a religious ritual. He believed that there was no religion on Rann.
When Adam sees a flying creature, he assumes that it is preparing to attack. When he tries to stop it, the people protect it. Adam is knocked out. When he recovers, he is introduced to Banttier whom he learns is Alanna's mother. When she learns that her family is in trouble she agrees to return to Ranagar with Adam.
In Ranagar, the attack on Sardath has served as a catalyst to incite chaos. The High Council, who are clones of Sardath, begin arguing. The rebels including Marleah enter the council chamber to send a message in hopes of staging a coup. However, Marleah kills one of the council. Another is blamed for it and also killed. Then the others go mad. Navelo, one of the rebels, is actually a spy working for Zared, a rival city-state. He lowers Ranagar's defenses which sets off an attack.
Alanna and Delaken try to find Sardath, but he is missing. Delaken leaves Alanna to help with the defense of the city. She begins to go into labor.
Back on Earth, Doctor Evelyn Fox has found Adam's journals. She decides to find Adam. Using the coordinates found in the journals, she catches another mega-zeta beam to Rann.
