Animal Man absorbs the power of a dog to allow him to track the creature into the city. Shortly after the trail disappears, Buddy is attacked by a man-sized rat. During the fight, Buddy's arm is ripped off from the shoulder. As he passes out from the loss of blood, Animal Man sees the creature undergo a transformation back into a human.
