Comments:
This story is continued from Captain Atom #16.

Synopsis:
After redirecting the hurricane that is Red Tornado into the Louisiana swamps, Captain Atom is ensnared by the Swamp Thing and his consciousness is taken into the astral plane. Red Tornado is also brought to the astral plane. Captain Atom meets the two elementals face-to-face and is able to make peace with Red Tornado. Swamp Thing explains that he was once angry with humanity as the Tornado is now.

While Captain Atom's mind is in the astral plane, his body is found by the Justice League. They are unable to revive him, so they take him to California to seek the aid of Brainwave. Mister Miracle also learns that Atom's metallic shell is of alien origin. The hero from Infinity, Inc. probes Atom's mind and is able to forge a conduit for Atom's consciousness to return.

Having finished his discussion with Swamp Thing and Red Tornado, Captain Atom evades the deadly touch of the Black Racer and reaches Brainwave who is able to bring him back to reality. Red Tornado promises to rethink his assault on humankind, and Swamp Thing exits the Green to return back to the swamp.
