This story is continued from Action Comics Weekly #623 and continues in Action Comics Weekly #625.

Synopsis:
Priest instructs Hal Jordan in the use of his power ring in a neighboring space sector. He explains that he is a former Green Lantern himself. When Hal explains the need to recharge his ring, Priest tells him that he can draw power from the source directly. Hal doesn't believe him.

Priest then gives Hal an empty power battery without a power source. He tells Hal where to find a new source of power for the battery. After a fight with some hostile aliens, Hal gets to the power source and recharges his ring just before his life support fails.

When Green Lantern returns to Priest, the alien shows Hal that the battery he used was a fake. This proves that Hal was able to recharge without the battery, but Hal's need for a battery causes Priest to reconstruct the original.
