Synopsis:
A ghoulish woman calling herself the Silver Banshee begins searching book stores in Metropolis and killing people who get in her way. The Special Crimes Unit led by Maggie Sawyer arrives on the scene. One of them is killed, but the Banshee is unable to kill a second. Superman then arrives and apparently kills Superman.
The news of Superman's death spreads quickly. Lois, Perry, and Maggie attend an impromptu funeral where the Man of Steel's body is on display. They witness a ghost rise from the body. The ghost then goes after the Silver Banshee. Her powers are ineffective against the ghost and she appears to explode.
The ghost then reveals himself as J'onn J'onzz in disguise. Superman is still alive as well. His encounter with the Banshee had only caused him to be put in a coma. His Kryptonian physiology saved him from her power. J'onn realized that the Banshee's power required visual cues to function. By disguising himself as Superman's ghost he was immune to her power. Jimmy Olsen explains that she must have been looking for a book that was shipped from Ireland.
