Synopsis:
While venturing north toward the Terminator in search of Jennifer Morgan, the Warlord makes a startling discovery. Skartaris has a moon. Morgan theorizes that the moon must have a low orbit so it can't be seen from great distances. It's path of movement is irregular, following a double helix over both poles and the center of the Earth.
While Shakira sleeps, Morgan goes on a moonlight hunt. He encounters a man being attacked by cannibals and gives aid. After the fight he learns that the man is Mikola Rostov, a Russian who has come to Skartaris in search of Mariah. When the cannibals regroup, Morgan and Rostov are captured.
While the men are tied up, the moon passes overhead. Rostov is transformed into a werewolf. He escapes and slaughters the cannibals in wolf form. When the moon disappears behind a cloud, he reverts to human form. He explains that he came to Skartaris in hopes that he would no longer transform into wolf form. But the presence of a moon in Skartaris means the transformations will continue. He parts ways with Morgan in search of Mariah and a magical cure to his problem.
