Synopsis:
Female reporter Joan Dale visits Bedloe's Island, the home of the Statue of Liberty. While resting on a park bench, Joan wishes she had the powers of the Statue in order to do some good in the world. She then falls asleep and dreams that the Statue has given her powers. When Joan wakes up, her dream has become reality as she now possesses transmutation powers.
Joan returns to the office and stops an attack by a gang of ruffians. The man she saves calls her Miss America, a name which Joan adopts as her own.
Joan then receives an assignment to investigate a munitions factory bombing. Her questions are ignored by the FBI and factory boss, so she investigates on her own. Joan links Mr. Grost, the factory boss, to the sabotage, but no one believes her claims. Undeterred Joan goes into action on her own, stopping another sabotage attempt. She then forced Grost to confess.
