Comments:
This story features Lt. Ben Hunter and the Hellcats. Ben Hunter was introduced in the Capt. Hunter feature in the first story of Our Fighting Forces #106 and is the father of Capt. Phil Hunter.
Synopsis:
Lieutenant Ben Hunter, a former homicide detective, recruits a group of soldiers from a prison stockade. He finds the soldiers fighting one another. In order to earn their respect, he challenges the biggest, named Brute, to a fist fight. When he wins the fight, the other men fall in line. Brute also joins the unit because he wants another shot at Hunter.
The newly formed team, dubbed the Hellcats is then given their first mission. They are to destory an air base which is protecting an island from invasion. The Hellcats use their own special skills to land on the island and take possession of a Japanese tank. They then pretend to be captured and march into the base. They plant explosives and succeed in destroying the base which allows American forces to invade the island.
