Comments:
This story contains three major flashback sequences. The first containing a modified origin of Ice Cream Soldier takes place in North Africa sometime after Rock was promoted to Sergeant. The second containing an origin of Wild Man takes place before Private Rock's arrival in North Africa.
The third flashback containing the origin of Bulldozer must take place in North Africa since Bulldozer was present there as shown in the first story of Our Army at War #114. Rock is also a sergent during this flashback so it can be assumed that this flashback takes place during roughly the same time as the first flashback featuring Ice Cream Soldier.
Ice Cream Soldier's back story, as told in this story, is significantly different from the previous account in the first story of Our Army at War #85.
Synopsis:
Sgt. Rock calms a new recruit while under fire by telling him stories of Easy Company's past missions. He tells the soldier how Ice Cream Soldier, Bulldozer, and Wild Man each earned their nicknames. When it comes time to fight, Sgt. Rock also shows why he is called "the Rock" by standing in the face of enemy fire. The new recruit proves himself in battle, earning his own nickname, Green Apple.
