Synopsis:
Following his return from the dead Arak resolves to become a shaman as well as a warrior before returning to his homeland to find his people. Arak and Satyricus agree to ride with Alizar's daughters on the way to Baghdad. Along the way, one of the girls is revealed as a boy. After they bury Alizar in the desert, the boy explains that he is Alsind, a prince of Arabia. He was in hiding and had been disguised as one of his uncle Alizar's daughters for years.
After hearing the story, Arak agrees to help Alsind reach his mother. They make camp for the night near the tomb of Abel. Sharizad, Alizar's real daughter, spots a shooting star which is a bad omen. Satyricus is soon captured by a ghul in a woman's guise. Alsind advises Arak that the creature is vulnerable to iron, so he strikes it with his iron-headed axe. The creature dies, but not before it predicts Arak's doom.
