Starman’s origin is revealed in flashback in All-Star Squadron #41, which includes an adaptation of this story and reveals that Professor Davis is also the inventor of the Gravity Rod.

Synopsis:
After a series of electrical disasters, FBI agent Woodley Allen contacts Starman to investigate the cause. Starman uses his gravity rod and locates an electrical discharge coming from a mountain range. Investigating, he finds the lab of Dr. Doog, a criminal scientist who has kidnapped Professor Davis, inventor of the Ultra-Dynamo. Starman and his gravity rod defeat Doog and rescue Davis. The source of electrical disturbances, the Ultra-Dynamo, is destroyed in the process.
