This story is continued from Phantom Stranger #3.
Synopsis:
Eclipso sets in motion his final plan to plunge the Earth into darkness. A cult leader named Lycaon has amassed a legion of followers who pack a stadium to hear the delivery of a sermon. The event is also broadcast of television to millions of people.
While the Phantom Strange goes to Stonehenge to confront Eclipso directly, Bruce Gordon and Valentina Vostok attempt to stop Lycaon. They fail and the cult leader uses the power of his worshippers to summon the Darksoul, a mystical creature that begins eating the sun.
The Stranger is also losing his personal battle with Eclipso because his own powers were stripped by the Lords of Order. His strength is augmented by Stonehenge which allows him to eventually get the upper hand. Vostok then breaks the worshippers out of a hypnotic trance. Their energy is then transferred from Lycaon to the Phantom Stranger in the form of hope. He is then able to dispatch the Darksoul and save the sun from destruction. The Temple of Divine Light is then shut down, and the Phantom Stranger carries on his mission with his power now derived from humanity itself.
