Synopsis:
When Clark Kent takes a cab ride, the taxi driver tries to kill him. Clark pretends to be knocked out and allows his body to be thrown in the river. As Superman, he tries to find out why someone wanted him dead, but the cab driver is killed in a traffic accident while fleeing the scene.

When Clark returns to the office, he finds that an imposter has assumed his role at the Daily Planet. The real Clark remains hidden while the imposter files stories which simultaneously help crooks and hurt Kent's reputation. Superman stops the criminals and tells police that he was working with Clark.

Eventually, the imposter meets with his boss Keele. Superman was waiting until he could uncover the head of the gang before exposing the phony Clark. He obtains evidence against Keele, and the real Clark makes his return.
