Synopsis:
Jay Garrick and Joan Williams cross the Rockies on a transcontinental flight. Bolts of purple lightning threaten the plane and eventually bring it down. The Flash saves the passengers, but Joan is left comatose. Concerned for her safety, the Flash looks for help.
The source of the purple lightning is scientist Nicholas Grag. He uses the lightning to target a bank in the nearby town of Danvas. His men then rob the bank. Flash encounters the crooks during his search for a doctor. He apprehends them and takes them to jail.
A short time later, the Flash returns to the plane with a doctor. Joan and the others are gone. The Flash releases the crooks, who lead him back to Grag. He then rescues Joan and the others. Grag is killed by his own invention.
