Synopsis:
Professor Archibald McQuatness invents Sleepian, a pill that can transport a person back in time. He takes the first pill and is sent back centuries in time. He encounters the Flash burying a time capsule. The Flash recognizes him, the disappears. McQuatness returns to 1942. He seeks out his investor Reginald Hasto and tells him about the time capsule. Hasto and his men try to dig up the capsule and knock out the professor. Jay Garrick, Joan Williams, and Betsy McQuatness, the professor's daughter, witness this. The Flash rescues the professor and takes the capsule back to the McQuatness house.

After stopping another attempt by Hasto to steal the capsule, the Flash joins the professor on another trip back in time. Joan and Betsy follow. So does Hasto and his men. Finding themselves in 50 B.C., the Flash and McQuatness travel to ancient Egypt where they meet Cleopatra. Meanwhile, Hasto captures Joan and Betsy. His men construct a diesel powered ship that takes them across the Atlantic. Hasto joins forces with Julius Caesar. Together, they attack Egypt. The Flash thwarts their efforts and takes Hasto back to Rome as a prisoner.

Caesar and the Romans believe that Flash is the god Mercury. Flash tries to convince Caesar to grant liberty to his people. Caesar turns against him and arranges a fixed chariot race to humiliate the Flash. Meanwhile, Brutus and Cassius collaborate with Hasto to topple Caesar. The Flash stops all the plots, but Hasto escapes with the professor.

The Flash returns across the Atlantic. He buries the time capsule which contains Caesar's treasure. After a brief encounter with the professor from his first time trip, the Flash returns to 1942 with the girls. The Flash then visits several time periods in search of the professor. He finally locates him during Shakespeare's time. When they return to the present, they discover that Hasto has again kidnapped the girls and stolen the capsule. The Flash tracks his foe one more time. This time Hasto is killed by his own devices. The Flash rescues the girls. When the capsule is eventually opened, everyone discovers that it's empty. The professor forgot to put the treasure inside while they were in Rome.
