Synopsis:
While covering a story for the Daily Planet Clark and Lois stumble onto criminals trying to get a secret formula from scientist Dr. Johns. Superman rescues Johns, but the crooks escape. Johns is dying and passes his formula to Clark with the promise to deliver it only to James Carson. The Secret Service must then protect Clark lest he fall into the hands of criminals while Carson is out of the country.

Clark's bodyguards protect Clark, but they also inhibit him from easily slipping away to deal with emergencies as Superman. The criminals make multiple attempts to abduct Clark. When they fail, they target Carson's family instead. Carson is forced to comply, allowing the criminals to have the formula when Clark gives it to him. However, Clark knew that the crooks were involved and used a false formula to mislead them. Once the crooks are apprehended, Clark delivers the real formula to Carson and his bodyguards no longer need to protect him.
