Synopsis:
The Metal Men bring Tin's responsometer and liquefied body to Dr. Tinker, a well known scientist. When they later return to Tinker's lab to check on his progress in restoring their teammate, they discover that Tinker is working for Lex Luthor. Using Tin's responsometer, Luthor has created a Kryptonoid Man, a robot made of Kryptonite. He then destroys the Metal Men.
While on patrol, Superman is lured to Luthor's lab. He is attacked by the Kryptonoid Man. While the synthetic Kryptonite hurts him, it does not prove to be fatal or drain his powers. Superman then gathers the responsometers of the fallen Metal Men and fuses them with the Kryptonoid Man. The Metal Men then split from the giant robot.
Superman takes the Metal Men to Doc Magnus who had refused to fix Tin in the first place. With a good word from the Man of Steel, Magnus agrees to restore the robots to their original forms. The Metal Men want to go after Luthor, but Superman advises them that Lex has ensured that they have no legal complaint against him.
