The origin of the Earth-One Blackhawks in revealed in this story. According to the caption, months pass between pages 10 and 11 of this story. However, years, not months, must have elapsed between these pages since the formation of the Blackhawks shown in part 1 took place in late 1939 or early 1940 and parts 2 and 3 take place immediately preceeding the D-Day invasion in 1944.

Synopsis:
The Blackhawks learn that Heracles, a member of the French underground during World War II, is still alive. While they leave to meet their old comrade, the Blackhawks recall how the team was first formed. Once assembled into a unit, the team infiltrated a Nazi weapons factory with Heracles's help. The Blackhawks destroyed the Nazis weapons just before the D-Day invasion of Europe, but Heracles was apparently killed.

When the Blackhawks meet their old comrade, he turns out to be an imposter. The crook wanted Blackhawk to lead him to a chest containing currency that was lost on the mission. Blackhawk suspected a trick and has a trap planned for the phony Heracles. The currency turns out to be worthless counterfeit Nazi money. The imposter is then arrested.
